The Affirmation of Baptism is a significant day for a Christian because it strengthens their relationship with God and equips them to live their faith: The Affirmation of Baptism, also known as confirmation, is a rite that celebrates a person's faith and promises made at their baptism.
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, nine young people from our congregation affirm the promises made for them at Baptism and declare for themselves that they will live out the promises made for them by their parents and sponsors in their Baptism (for those who were baptized as infants).
Receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit on this day of Affirmation, their relationship with God and faith becomes stronger. Affirmation strengthens the Gift of the Holy Spirit, which include wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, peity, and fear of God. Affirmation prepares Christians to be better witnesses to Christ in the world. Affirmation is the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and growth.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. — James 1: 17
In this way the Christian is equipped to become a better witness to Christ in the world.
Congratulations to our new confirmands! May the Holy Spirit light you way.
