Walk in the Light

We begin Advent with the lectionary year of Cycle C. What is Advent? The word 'Advent' means, 'coming'. The first coming took place two thousand years ago when Christ was born at Bethlehem.

Jesus' first coming took place in our lives when as infants we were baptized or when we came to faith in Him. Jesus's presence is particularly experienced in the midst of the Christian community, when we gather to pray, when we read the scriptures and when we do His Last Supper.

Our whole life should be a continuous Advent, an every getting ready to receive Christ at his repeated comings. It is the time of the Lord's favor, the day of salvation, peace and unending joy.

Jesus' is coming! Jesus is love and the greatest proof of His love is that He gave His only begotten Son to save us!

Jesus says, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." —John 8: 12
